Swamp Eel Fish is common in India, Bangladesh, and other Asian countries. Though, some people do not like it for it’s looks and some social stigma, many people like it very much.
In this article, ell fish recipe is discussed in Bengali style recipe.
INGREDIENTS
- Eel fish – 1 (550 gram)- cut into 1 inch piece
- Ginger paste- 1tsp
- Garlic paste- 1tsp
- Onion paste- 1cup
- Tomato paste- 2 (1 cup)
- Salt to taste
- Turmeric- 1 tsp
- Garam masala- 1 tsp
- Kashmiri chilli- 1 tsp
- Potato- 200 gram, 1 inch cube cut
- Mustard oil- 4 tbsp
- For seasoning
- 1 inch cinnamon
- 2 bay leaf
- Cloves-6
- Red chilli-2
- Green chilli- 2
- Cumin seed ½ tsp
PROCEDURE : HOW TO COOK
Step-1
- Wash eel fish- rinse water
- Marinate with salt and turmeric- 10 min
Step-2
- Heat 3 tbsp mustard oil in a kadai
- Fry marinated fish in low flame
Step-3
- Fry potato in oil and keep aside
Step-4
- In heated oil, for seasoning- put cumin seed, bay leaf, cinnamon, cloves, dry chilli and red chilli
- Add Ginger paste- 1tsp
- Garlic paste- 1tsp
- Onion paste- 1cup
- Tomato paste- 2 (1 cup)
- Salt to taste
- Turmeric- 1 tsp
- Stir and fry in medium flame till oil separate
- Add potato with the spices- miz well and fry
- After oil separate, add water about 500ml
- Cook till boil in high flame
Step-5
- Add fried fish after boiling of gravy
- Cook in high flame- cover for 2 min
- Open cover after 2 min.
- Cook till gravy become thick or as per your choice.
- Add garam masala at the end.
- Stir and take out when complete.
